Product Description

The Allen-Bradley 1756-EWEB Enhanced Web Server module provides web browser-based access to a ControlLogix control system, enabling remote monitoring and modification of data within the chassis via XML web pages. It facilitates message routing, module firmware upgrades, program uploads/downloads, and custom web page creation with live controller data integration (limited to 5 MB storage). The module also features an embedded email composer and supports email initiation from the Logix controller. It allows TCP/UDP communication with other Ethernet devices and handles up to 128 CIP connected messages and 256 unconnected CIP messages, managed through up to 64 TCP connections. Installation involves simply sliding the module into a compatible ControlLogix chassis slot and connecting it to the network. The 1756-EWEB, an Ethernet I/P communication bridge, supports 10/100 Mbps transmission and is compatible with various ControlLogix chassis. Accessing the module's web server requires a standard web browser, with Internet Explorer 5.5 or 6 recommended for full functionality. Upon initial login using the default "Administrator" username (no password), users should immediately configure a secure username and password.

Is Your Device Showing These Signs?

The Allen Bradley 1756-EWEB module commonly experiences issues related to network connectivity, manifesting as communication faults within the ControlLogix backplane. Firmware corruption during upgrades causes operational failures, necessitating reflashing procedures via BootP or a compatible Ethernet interface. Configuration errors in the module's IP address, subnet mask, or gateway settings prevent proper network integration, demanding meticulous verification against the PLC's network architecture. Hardware failures, such as capacitor degradation or Ethernet port damage, result in intermittent or complete loss of communication, requiring component-level repair or module replacement. Excessive network traffic or broadcast storms overwhelm the module's processing capabilities, leading to timeouts and data loss; network segmentation or traffic shaping is essential to mitigate these problems.
