Product Description

The 1756-PA72K is a ControlLogix AC power supply module designed for installation on the left side of 1756-A4, 1756-A7, 1756-A10, 1756-A13, and 1756-A17 chassis (Series A, B, and C). It operates with an input voltage range of 85-265 VAC (nominal 120-240 VAC) and a line frequency of 47-63 Hz, drawing a maximum of 100 VA/Watts. It provides a maximum output power of 75 Watts within a temperature range of 32-140F. Key specifications include a 20 Amp inrush current, hold-up times of 5-6 cycles depending on input voltage, and current capacities of 1.5A@1.2VDC, 4A@3.3VDC, 10A@5.1VDC, and 2.8A@24VDC. The module weighs approximately 0.95 kg and measures 5.51 x 4.41 x 5.71 inches. Recommended wiring is 14 AWG solid or stranded copper rated for 194F or higher, with a maximum insulation of 3/64 inches, and a conductor screw torque of 5 lb-in. This open-enclosure module complies with the T4 North American temperature code and has storage and operating temperature ranges of -40 to 185F and 32 to 140F, respectively.

Is Your Device Showing These Signs?

The Allen Bradley 1756-PA72K ControlLogix power supply commonly experiences failures due to component degradation from heat and age, resulting in insufficient output voltage for the chassis backplane. Technicians address this by replacing electrolytic capacitors, rectifiers, and other stressed components within the power supply unit. Overcurrent events stemming from downstream module faults can damage the PA72K, necessitating fuse replacements and internal circuit analysis. Furthermore, issues with the inrush current limiter can prevent the power supply from properly initializing, requiring component-level repair or full unit replacement to restore system functionality.
