Product Description
The Allen-Bradley 1771-IVN is a compact, cost-effective PLC 5 DC input module that translates user-supplied 10-60V DC signals into logic levels for the processor, directly controlling corresponding data table bits. This Series C module, supporting and 1-slot addressing, features 32 inputs (arranged in four groups of eight) and utilizes a 1771-WN wiring arm for easy module replacement without disconnecting wires. Designed for sink DC input signal termination, it operates within a 10-30V DC range, exhibiting a typical 6ms (2) signal delay for both on and off states. The module, installed in a 1771 I/O chassis, draws 280mA from the backplane, dissipates 15.6W (53.3 BTU/hr), and has a maximum off-state current of 1.7mA. Proper installation is ensured by keying bands located between pins 14-16 (lower connector) and 30-32 (upper connector). The front panel includes 32 status indicators, and optoelectrical isolation along with input filtering protect the system from electrical noise and transients.
Is Your Device Showing These Signs?
The Allen Bradley 1771-IVN I/O module commonly experiences issues such as backplane communication failures due to corrosion on the connector pins, resulting in data transmission errors and PLC downtime. Resolving this requires thorough cleaning or replacement of the connector. Component degradation, specifically electrolytic capacitor failure on the power supply section, causes voltage instability and erratic module operation. Firmware corruption during upgrades or power surges leads to module malfunction, necessitating a firmware reflash. Input signal noise and improper grounding introduce false signals, requiring noise filtering and proper grounding techniques.

Our Repair Process for the
1771-IVN
Our repair process for the Allen Bradley 1771-IVN I/O module begins with a comprehensive diagnostic assessment to pinpoint the root cause of the failure. If backplane communication issues are present, the connector pins undergo meticulous cleaning or complete replacement to eliminate corrosion. Suspected component degradation, particularly electrolytic capacitor failure, prompts immediate replacement of the faulty components within the power supply section to restore voltage stability. In cases of firmware corruption, a firmware reflash is performed to restore proper module operation. To address input signal noise and grounding problems, noise filtering techniques are implemented, and proper grounding is established to ensure signal integrity.
