Product Description

The Allen-Bradley 1771-OWN is a 32-output digital I/O relay module designed for critical applications where leakage current is unacceptable. Its outputs, arranged in four groups of eight, can be configured to a specific state (ON or OFF) upon power loss. The front panel features 32 status LEDs indicating output energization and a blown fuse indicator. Operating within a voltage range of 24-138V AC RMS or 24-125V DC, and drawing 2.5A (max) / 1.8A (nominal) from the chassis backplane, the 1771-OWN can drive 120V AC input modules and indicate motor starter status. It is compatible with 1771-IA, -IA2, and -IAD input modules (requiring a 15K, 2W resistor for connection) and 1771-AM1, -AM2, and 1771-A1B through 1771-A4B I/O chassis, noting that inputs and outputs are not isolated when configured together.

Is Your Device Showing These Signs?

The Allen Bradley 1771-OWN output module commonly experiences issues such as blown output fuses due to overcurrent conditions or short circuits in field wiring. Technicians address failed triacs or transistors, leading to non-responsive outputs, by component-level repair or module replacement. Corrosion on the edge connector pins causes communication failures; cleaning or replacing the connector resolves this. Backplane issues, including corrupted data transfer, require backplane inspection and potential repair. Resolve nuisance tripping by verifying proper load impedance and addressing ground loops.

Technical specifications

  • The Allen-Bradley 1771-OWN is a 32-output relay module ideal for applications sensitive to leakage current. It features configurable outputs upon power loss, status LEDs, and a blown fuse indicator. It operates on 24-138V AC RMS or 24-125V DC, drawing 2.5A (max) / 1.8A (nominal), and is compatible with specific Allen-Bradley input modules and I/O chassis, with the caveat that inputs and outputs are not isolated when configured together.

Our Repair Process for the

1771-OWN

Our repair process for the Allen Bradley 1771-OWN output module begins with a thorough inspection to identify blown output fuses, failed triacs or transistors, corroded edge connector pins, and backplane issues. Technicians address blown output fuses by identifying and rectifying overcurrent conditions or short circuits in field wiring, followed by fuse replacement. Non-responsive outputs resulting from failed triacs or transistors are resolved through component-level repair or module replacement. Communication failures due to corrosion on edge connector pins are corrected by cleaning or replacing the connector. Backplane issues, including corrupted data transfer, necessitate a detailed backplane inspection and subsequent repair. Nuisance tripping is resolved by verifying proper load impedance and addressing any ground loops present.
