Product Description

The Allen-Bradley 1775-WA Terminal Swing Arm, positioned near the bottom of Allen-Bradley I/O Scanner Modules (1775-S4A, -S4B, and 1775-SR), facilitates efficient I/O, backup, and peer-to-peer communication (up to 6 PLC-3 or PLC-3/10 processors) via the 1770-CD cable connected to its I/O channels 1-4. It supports I/O scanning with 1775-S4A/S4B, peer-to-peer with 1775-S4A only, and backup communication with 1775-S4A only. The 1775-WA also connects a 1771 I/O chassis to the 1775-S4B scanner module up to 10,000 cable feet. It offers selectable communication rates (57.6-115.2 kilobaud) and scan times (5.5-6.5 ms for 1 channel, 6.0-6.5 ms for 4 channels), operating between 0-60C (32-140F) at 5-95% humidity and non-operating between -40-85C (-40-185F).

Is Your Device Showing These Signs?

The Allen Bradley 1775-WA PLC I/O module commonly experiences issues such as backplane communication failures due to corrosion on the edge connector, resulting in a loss of signal integrity and I/O faults. Power supply degradation causes erratic module operation and system instability, requiring replacement of capacitors or the entire power supply unit. Firmware corruption leads to unpredictable behavior, necessitating a firmware upgrade or re-flashing. Component failure, specifically integrated circuits or discrete components, results in module malfunction and requires component-level repair or board replacement. Environmental factors like excessive heat or humidity accelerate component degradation and contribute to premature failure of the 1775-WA module.

Technical specifications

  • The Allen-Bradley 1775-WA Terminal Swing Arm, used with Allen-Bradley I/O Scanner Modules, enables I/O, backup, and peer-to-peer communication between PLC-3 processors. It connects via a 1770-CD cable, supports different communication types depending on the scanner module used (1775-S4A or -S4B), and can connect a 1771 I/O chassis to the 1775-S4B over long distances. It features selectable communication rates and scan times and has specified operating and non-operating temperature and humidity ranges.

Our Repair Process for the

1775-WA

Our repair process for the Allen Bradley 1775-WA PLC I/O module begins with a thorough inspection, focusing on the edge connector for corrosion, which is meticulously cleaned to ensure optimal backplane communication. The power supply undergoes rigorous testing; if degradation is detected, capacitors are replaced, or the entire unit is exchanged to guarantee stable operation. Firmware integrity is verified, and updates or re-flashing are performed to correct any corruption issues. Component-level diagnostics are conducted to identify and replace any failed integrated circuits or discrete components, restoring the module to full functionality. Finally, the module is subjected to environmental stress testing to confirm its resilience against heat and humidity, ensuring a reliable and extended operational lifespan.
