Product Description

The Allen-Bradley 1783-BMS06TGA is a managed Stratix Ethernet/IP switch featuring four Fast Ethernet (100 Mbps) and two Gigabit Ethernet (1000 Mbps) copper ports for secure and efficient industrial network implementation. It supports CIP sync, NAT, and DLR topology. The switch operates on 24VDC (12-48VDC range), consuming 9.5W typically (15W max), and dissipates 15W. It includes an alarm relay contact (1A @ 30V DC or 0.5A @ 48V DC) for signaling. Managed switches enhance network uptime and reduce traffic by enabling dedicated port communication. The 1783-BMS06TGA can be DIN rail or subpanel mounted. Its open-type enclosure weighs 1.11 kg and measures 74.8 x 129.5 x 116.7 mm. Environmental specifications include a -40 to 60C operating temperature, -40 to 85C storage temperature, 5-95% non-condensing humidity, 2G vibration (10-500 Hz), 30G operating shock, and 50G non-operating shock. Maintain 50.8 mm spacing around the switch for cooling. It requires 12-48VDC input (0.5-2A). Use minimum 12 AWG stranded copper wire for ground, 20-18 AWG twisted-pair copper for alarm, and 20-18 AWG solid or stranded copper wire for DC power connections.

Is Your Device Showing These Signs?

The Allen Bradley 1783-BMS06TGA managed switch commonly experiences issues such as backplane communication failures due to corrupted firmware, requiring a firmware update or reflashing. Power supply malfunctions are a frequent cause of operational failure, necessitating component-level repair or replacement. Network connectivity problems often stem from port damage or configuration errors within the VLAN or spanning tree protocol settings, demanding port repair or configuration resets. Excessive network traffic or broadcast storms overload the switch's processing capabilities, leading to performance degradation and requiring network segmentation or traffic shaping implementation. Finally, physical damage to the housing or connectors compromises environmental integrity, necessitating enclosure repair or connector replacement to prevent further damage.
