Product Description
The Allen-Bradley 1785-LT2 PLC features 13KWords of user memory, expandable to 17K or 21K, and supports up to 1024 mixed I/O points or 1024 input, 1024 output, and 1024 analog I/O channels. It includes embedded Data Highway Plus (DH+) and Remote I/O (RIO) communication ports (RIO at 57.6 Kbps), supporting up to 8 I/O racks, 17 total I/O chassis, and 16 remote I/O chassis. For controller redundancy, use the 1785-BCM. Compatible power supplies include the 1771-P3, 1771-P4, and others in the 1771-P series. Program scan time is typically 8ms (2ms for discrete logic), and I/O scan time is 10ms/rack at 57.6 Kbps (remote). It's designed for Pollution Degree 2 environments, Category II applications (IEC 60664-1), and altitudes up to 2000 meters. Operating temperature is 0-60C (32-140F), storage temperature is -40-85C (-40-185F), and relative humidity is 5-95% (non-condensing). Operating shock is 30g, non-operating shock is 50g (both 3 pulses, 11ms). Ensure proper convection cooling with adequate spacing and air temperature below 60C (140F) immediately below the processor; use filtered fans or air/heat exchangers if needed. Always disconnect power before connecting/disconnecting cables or removing the module. The 1785-LT2 does not support hot-swapping. It supports ladder and Sequential Function Chart (SFC) programming. Optional EEPROM modules are 1785-MJ (8KWords) and 1785-MK (16KWords).
Is Your Device Showing These Signs?
The Allen Bradley 1785-LT2 PLC processor commonly experiences issues such as memory corruption, resulting in program faults and system downtime. Resolving communication failures on the DH+ network requires troubleshooting cabling, node addressing, and baud rate settings. Backplane issues cause intermittent operation, demanding inspection of the chassis and power supply. Firmware corruption necessitates a memory clear and firmware reload using a compatible programming device. Battery failures lead to memory loss, requiring immediate battery replacement and program restoration from backup.

Our Repair Process for the
1785-LT2
Our repair process for the Allen Bradley 1785-LT2 PLC processor begins with a thorough diagnostic evaluation to pinpoint the root cause of the failure, whether it be memory corruption, communication failure, backplane issue, firmware corruption, or battery failure. Memory corruption demands a complete memory clear and program reload. Communication failures on the DH+ network require a systematic inspection of cabling, node addressing verification, and baud rate setting confirmation. Backplane issues necessitate a detailed inspection of the chassis and power supply. Firmware corruption is resolved through a memory clear and firmware reload using a compatible programming device. Battery failures require immediate battery replacement and program restoration from a verified backup. Each step ensures the PLC processor is restored to full operational status, minimizing downtime and preventing future issues.
