The Allen-Bradley 1785-ME16 is a 16K word EEPROM memory module for PLC-5 processors (including enhanced and Ethernet versions) that provides non-volatile, user-modifiable ROM which can be repeatedly erased and reprogrammed. It can function as a backup device, automatically loading the user program at startup, and features write protection via a removable jumper. It operates between 0-60C (32-140F) with a storage temperature range of -40-85C (-40-185F) and 5-95% relative humidity (non-condensing). The module withstands operating shocks of 30g and non-operating shocks of 50g (both 3 pulses, 11ms), and complies with EN 50081-2 EMC standards. Hot-plugging or unplugging the module can cause electrical arcing, leading to damage or injury. The module weighs 85.05 grams (3 ounces). It also has an operating shock of 15 g peak acceleration at 11 ms duration and non-operating shock of 3 g peak acceleration at 11 ms duration. It also has a vibration rating of 2 g peak acceleration at 10-500 Hertz. It carries certification from CSA; CSA Class I, Division 2 Groups A, B, C, D; UL and CE. Power must be removed before installation or removal to prevent damage and data loss.
