Product Description

The Allen-Bradley 1791-16A0 is a compact, self-contained Distributed I/O block featuring sixteen 120VAC inputs, an integrated power supply, and a PLC interface. As part of the Block I/O family, it combines the functions of an I/O rack, adapter, power supply, and I/O devices, connecting to a network controller via a daisy-chain configuration for asynchronous I/O scanning. It's compatible with various discrete input devices like switches and proximity sensors. When used with 1771 series output modules, specific voltage and current limitations must be observed for compatibility, with modules like the 1771-OAN and 1771-OD16 being examples of suitable options. The 1791-0A16 can be mounted horizontally or vertically, offering a maximum output rating of 600mA at both 30C and 60C, and a surge current of 10A for 50ms every 2 seconds; a 2-inch (58.0 cm) clearance on all sides is recommended for ventilation during installation.

Is Your Device Showing These Signs?

The Allen Bradley 1791-16A0 I/O block commonly experiences issues such as communication failures stemming from corrupted backplane connectivity or faulty network adapters. Field wiring terminations become loose or corroded, causing signal degradation and intermittent sensor/actuator operation. Internal component degradation, specifically electrolytic capacitor failures within the power supply circuitry, leads to voltage instability and operational faults. Firmware corruption during upgrades necessitates a re-flash, and physical damage to the housing compromises environmental protection, accelerating component failure. Resolve these issues through backplane inspection, proper termination techniques, component-level repair, firmware updates, and enclosure replacement.

Our Repair Process for the

1791-16A0

Our repair process for the Allen Bradley 1791-16A0 I/O block begins with a thorough inspection of the backplane for connectivity issues and a check of the network adapter for faults. Field wiring terminations are examined for looseness or corrosion, and proper termination techniques are applied. Internal components are scrutinized for degradation, with electrolytic capacitors in the power supply circuitry receiving particular attention, and component-level repairs are performed as needed. Firmware is verified and updated to resolve any corruption. Finally, the housing is assessed for physical damage, and a replacement is provided if the enclosure is compromised.
