Product Description

The Allen-Bradley 2085-OW8 is a Micro850 relay output module providing 8 digital outputs rated for 12-24V DC with yellow status indicators. It features a 2A maximum load current, 2.72W power dissipation, 1.8W power rating, and 1.5mA maximum off-state leakage with a 10mA minimum load per point. It offers 240V continuous isolation (reinforced, type tested at 3250V DC for 60s) from channel to system. Relay contact ratings are 15A@120V AC, 7.5A@240V AC, 1A@24V DC, and 0.22A@125V DC. It uses copper wire, is wiring category 2, and requires a 10mm (0.39 in) insulation strip length for 0.25-2.5 mm2 (22-14 AWG) solid or stranded copper wire (1.2mm/3/64 in insulation max, 75C+ rating). It has an IP20 enclosure, dimensions of 1.10 x 3.54 x 3.42 inches, weighs approximately 140g (4.93 oz), and is approved for hazardous locations under North American standards.

Is Your Device Showing These Signs?

The Allen Bradley 2085-OW8 output module commonly experiences failures due to blown output fuses, often caused by inductive load spikes or wiring shorts. Technicians address this by inspecting and replacing faulty fuses, verifying proper wiring terminations, and ensuring adequate suppression diodes are installed on inductive loads to prevent voltage transients. Module failure also stems from damaged output transistors, necessitating transistor replacement or complete module replacement. Overheating due to inadequate ventilation or excessive current draw is a frequent issue, resolved by improving airflow and confirming adherence to the module's current specifications. Communication errors with the PLC backplane are fixed by checking the module's physical connection, verifying proper configuration within the PLC program, and updating the PLC firmware.
