Product Description
The Allen-Bradley 2098-DSD-005-DN is an Ultra 3000 Digital Servo DeviceNet Interface Drive, designed as a single-phase AC drive for controlling many industrial servo motors. It accepts an input voltage range of 100 to 240V AC at 47-63 Hertz, with a nominal input current of 5A and a surge current of 100A. The drive features an intermittent output current of 7.5A, a BUS capacitance of 1410μF, and 400V DC BUS over-voltage protection.
It has a power output of 0.5 kW at 230V AC and an Energy Absorption Capacity of 38J (also at 230V AC). The drive supports an Auxiliary 5V Logic supply and employs Class CC (FNQ-R-6) and Class J (LPJ-6SP) Bussman fuses, rated at 230V AC. With a maximum power dissipation of 48W, it is designed to operate within a temperature range of 0-55°C (32-131°F) and a relative humidity range of 5-95% (non-condensing), without derating.
The 2098-DSD-005-DN utilizes 3-Phase Sinusoidal Commutation with Space Vector Modulation for PWM frequency control between 4 and 8 KHz. It employs a Digital PI with a 125μs update time for current control, a Digital PID for velocity control, and a Digital PID with feed-forward capability for positioning.
The drive includes 8 optically-isolated, 12-24V DC digital inputs, 4 isolated 12-24V DC digital outputs, and a 30V DC, 1.0A N.O. relay output. In addition to an RS-232/RS-422/RS-485 port, it features DeviceNet Network capability with selectable 125, 250, and 500 kps, and auto-baud transfer rates, supporting 0-63 node addresses.
The 2098-DSD-005-DN has dimensions of 98.1mm x 32.77mm x 65.02mm and weighs approximately 1.8kg (4.1lbs).
Is Your Device Showing These Signs?
The Allen Bradley 2098-DSD-005-DN commonly experiences issues related to communication failures on the DeviceNet network, often stemming from corrupted EDS files or incorrect baud rate settings. Resolve these issues by verifying the integrity of the EDS file in the PLC programming software, ensuring the DeviceNet scanner's baud rate matches the network, and checking for proper termination resistance at the network's ends. Furthermore, address potential hardware faults such as damaged connectors, internal component failures within the drive, or power supply fluctuations affecting the drive's operation. Firmware corruption also occurs, necessitating a firmware update or re-flash using compatible Allen Bradley software.

Our Repair Process for the
2098-DSD-005-DN
Our repair process for the Allen Bradley 2098-DSD-005-DN begins with a thorough verification of the EDS file integrity within the PLC programming software and confirmation that the DeviceNet scanner's baud rate aligns with the network settings. We then proceed to inspect the DeviceNet network for proper termination resistance. Following these checks, we examine the drive for hardware faults, including damaged connectors, internal component failures, and power supply irregularities. If hardware issues are not present, a firmware update or re-flash is performed using compatible Allen Bradley software to address potential firmware corruption.
