Product Description

The Allen-Bradley 2098-DSD-HV100-SE is an Ultra 3000 Servo Drive module equipped with a Serial Real-Time Communication Systems (SERCOS) interface, utilizing a dual SERCOS port with Fiber optic cable connections. This interface allows the drive to communicate directly with Programmable Automation Controllers (PACs) that have a SERCOS module installed. Additionally, this servo motor can be coupled with MP-Series, 1326AB, F-, H-, N-, and Y-Series servo motors.

Beyond the SERCOS interface, this drive supports the premiere integration option for advanced integration capabilities. This option enables servo drive parameters to be integrated as instructions, becoming embedded within the user program and included in the controller's scan cycle. This method facilitates dynamic changes to drive parameters based on predefined conditions and values set in the program, reducing the need for manual operator intervention to adjust drive settings.

The 2098-DSD-HV100-SE's output characteristics include an output current of 23 A and a continuous output power of 2.5 kW at 230VAC input and 5.0 kW at 460VAC input.

This drive features front panel terminals labeled TB1, TB2, and CN1. TB1 is an 11-point terminal strip for motor connection, incoming power supply, auxiliary power connection, DC output terminals, and an earthing terminal. TB2 is designated for external passive shunt connections, while CN1 is assigned for Normally Open (N.O.) relay output.

This module uses two SERCOS fiber-optic cables. The 2098-DSD-HV100-SE has an input voltage (AC) rating of 230-480V AC root mean square (three-phase) and an input frequency (AC) range of 47-63 Hertz. The nominal input current (AC) is 14A root mean square. It also provides a 23A (0 to peak) continuous output current and a 46 A (0 to peak) intermittent output current. The module's dimensions are 9.54 x 14.2 x 5.97 in (242.2 x 360.7 x 151.6 mm), and it weighs approximately 10.44 kg (22.96 lbs).

The 2098-DSD-HV100-SE is designed for use in industrial environments with a pollution rating no higher than Pollution Degree 2 (as defined in EN / IEC 60664-1) when applied in a Zone 2 environment. This module includes an Autobaud feature, which allows the drive to automatically determine the network data rate, and it also supports Automatic Device Replacement (ADR). The module incorporates a set of parameters used to configure and monitor drives, and configuration is achieved by changing the values associated with these individual parameters.

A precaution is given: ensure that no power is applied to the SERCOS fiber-optic drive and verify that the cables are correctly plugged into the Tx and Rx connectors.

Is Your Device Showing These Signs?

The Allen Bradley 2098-DSD-HV100-SE servo drive commonly experiences issues such as resolver feedback failures, necessitating resolver replacement or cable repair. Overcurrent faults are frequent, often stemming from motor winding shorts or excessive load, requiring motor evaluation and load reduction. Communication errors on the EtherNet/IP network arise due to incorrect IP address configuration or damaged network cables; verify network settings and cable integrity. Drive overheating is a recurring problem, ensure proper heatsink mounting, adequate ventilation, and functional cooling fans. Power supply failures manifest as a complete loss of power or erratic operation; replace the power supply components.
