Product Description

The Allen-Bradley 2098-IPD-020-DN drive is an Ultra5000 series intelligent positioning drive. This drive is rated for 240 Volts AC input and 2 kilowatts of output, and it includes a DeviceNet communication interface. The supported AC input voltage range for this drive is 100 to 240 Volts AC RMS (single-phase), and the input line frequency can vary from 47 to 63 Hertz. The nominal AC input current is 18 Amps RMS, and the maximum inrush current at 240 Volts AC input is 100 Amps (0 to peak). The peak output current is 30 Amps (0 to peak), and the continuous output current is 10 Amps (0 to peak). The energy absorption capability of the 2098-IPD-020-DN drive is 125 joules at 115 Volts AC input and 51 joules at 230 Volts AC input. The continuous power input is 1 kilowatt at 115 Volts AC input and 2 kilowatts at 230 Volts AC input. The drive weighs 5.3 pounds. The working temperature range is from 0 to 55 degrees Celsius, and the storage temperature range is from -40 to 70 degrees Celsius. The relative humidity in the installation environment should be within a range of 5% to 90%. The drive output derates 3% for every 300 meters above the 1500 meters altitude limit, so installation at altitudes exceeding 1500 meters should be avoided when possible. The vibration rating for the 2098-IPD-020-DN drive is 0.015 inches maximum displacement at 2 G peak (10 to 2000 Hertz), and the shock rating is 15 g for a maximum of 11 milliseconds.

The Allen-Bradley 2098-IPD-020-DN is a microprocessor-based Intelligent Positioning Drive (IPD) that is part of the Ultra 5000 IPD product family. This drive is an electronically operated device with highly programmable and configurable memory, allowing it to function according to specific plant requirements. This Positioning drive is mainly composed of two (2) stages of electronic circuitry, with the provision for up to two (2) additional option cards.

The first stage of this IPD drive is the I/O circuitry, primarily used to interface with available signals such as discrete inputs, discrete outputs, auxiliary encoder inputs, motor encoder outputs, motor encoder, analog inputs, analog outputs, bus voltage inputs, current inputs, and Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) outputs.

The second stage circuitry is the processor card, which contains:

512K bytes x 8 Low-speed flash memory
256K bytes x 32 System Flash memory
128K bytes x 32 High-speed Random Access Memory (RAM)
64K bytes x 8 non-volatile SRAM
Two (2) channel serial interfaces
7-segment display
Rotary DIP switches for setting drive addresses and other configurations
TMS320C32 DSP

The 2098-IPD-020-DN is energized when wired to an input supply voltage of 100-240 Volts AC rms, 1-phase, with an input frequency of 47-63 Hertz. This drive delivers continuous output power of 1.0 Kilowatt at 115 Volts AC and 2.0 Kilowatts at 230 Volts AC. The drive's current ratings include a peak output current of 30 Amperes and a continuous output current of 10 Amperes. The drive has an energy absorption capability of 125 Joules at 115 Volts AC and 51 Joules at 230 Volts AC.
