Product Description
The 2098-IPD-030-DN is an Allen-Bradley Ultra 5000 Intelligent Positioning Drive that employs a DSP-based control system for high-speed positioning. It operates with a single-phase input voltage of 100-240V AC, at a frequency of 47-63Hz, and has a nominal input current of 28A with a surge of 50A upon turn-on.
This drive features:
An auxiliary input rating of 5A (nominal) with a 95A peak current surge at 230V AC.
An intermittent output current of 30A.
Output power of 3kW.
Energy absorption capability of 96 Joules.
An internal capacitance of 2820µF.
BUS voltage protection at 452V DC.
An internal 35Ω, 4.5KW shunt with 420/402V DC shunt ON/OFF voltage.

The 2098-IPD-030-DN is programmed using a Compiled ANSI C subset, including a library of motion functions, and a real-time, multi-tasking operating system. It utilizes a 32-bit floating-point digital signal processor with a 60 MHz internal clock speed, and has 512K of user program memory with 100,000 write cycles and 256K of system flash memory. The drive also includes:
A 128K high-speed Random Access Memory (RAM).
A 64K non-volatile SRAM.
Two (2) channel serial interfaces.
A 7-segment display.
Rotary DIP switches for setting drive addresses and other configurations.
Space vector modulation algorithm for frequency modulation.
Positioning control through a digital PI controller with a 500µsec update rate.
Support for 4 motor feedback encoders (Incremental, Sine/Cosine, Intelligent, and Absolute).
For communication, the drive features:
Two RS-232/RS-422/RS-485 serial communication ports.
An optional factory-installed DeviceNet Control interface with selectable baud rates of 125, 250, and 500 kbps, supporting 01-63 node addresses.
The 2098-IPD-030-DN is designed for operation within a temperature range of 0-55 oC at 5-95% non-condensing relative humidity and can be installed up to an altitude of 1500m without derating. It weighs 6.55Kg and has dimensions of 360.7mm x 243.9mm x 120.5mm, and it is UL-certified.
