Product Description

The Allen-Bradley 803-A8RH is a robust, Style A rotating cam limit switch designed for heavy-duty industrial machinery with repetitive cycles where shaft rotation mirrors machine motion. Featuring a right-hand shaft extension and a NEMA Type 1 enclosure, it's suitable for applications like assembly, packing, steel forming, injection molding, and punch presses. It includes a 150 RPM rotating shaft, spring-loaded cam-roller, eight cam-opened circuits, and adjustable cam segments for precise timing and dwell time control. The adjustable lobe and valley on the cam activate and deactivate circuits, respectively. Its normally-closed contacts handle 25A continuous current with AC MAKE/BREAK ratings of 150A/15A at 120V and 30A/3A at 600V, and a MAKE/BREAK power rating of 1800 VA. Timing, measured in angular degrees relative to Top Dead Center, and dwell time are internally adjustable. The unit weighs 16.3 kg (36 lbs) and measures 311.2 x 144.5 x 200 mm (12.25 x 5.69 x 7.88 inches). It is CSA, UL, and CE-certified and operates between -30 to 66C (-22 to 150F) and can be stored between -30 to 93C (-22 to 200F).

Is Your Device Showing These Signs?

The Allen Bradley 803-A8RH suffers from common failures including coil burnout due to overvoltage or inrush current, contact erosion from repetitive switching of inductive loads, and mechanical wear impacting armature movement. Troubleshooting involves checking coil resistance, inspecting contact surfaces for pitting or welding, and verifying proper spring tension. Replacement of the coil, contacts, or entire relay is often necessary to restore functionality and prevent motor control system downtime. Proper surge suppression and adherence to voltage specifications are crucial for preventative maintenance.

Our Repair Process for the

803-A8RH

Our repair process for the Allen Bradley 803-A8RH relay begins with a thorough inspection, including coil resistance testing to identify burnout, contact surface examination for erosion or welding, and assessment of spring tension to ensure proper armature movement. If the coil is damaged, it is replaced with a new component meeting original specifications. Contacts exhibiting pitting or welding are replaced to ensure reliable switching. Mechanical wear affecting armature movement necessitates replacement of the entire relay unit. To prevent future failures, surge suppression devices are installed, and adherence to specified voltage parameters is enforced. This process restores the relay to full functionality, minimizing motor control system downtime.
