Product Description

The Allen-Bradley 803-P8W Rotating Cam Limit Switch, a heavy-duty Style P device with an optional external adjustment sprocket, controls industrial machinery with cyclical operations where motion is linked to shaft rotation. Featuring eight independently adjustable cam assemblies with spring-controlled cam rollers, it provides precise contact actuation via shaft-mounted cams. Designed for demanding applications like assembly/packaging, punch presses, and metal forming, it offers long life and operates with a 400 RPM keyed shaft. The switch includes eight 25A normally-closed double break control circuits, activated by cam lobe pressure on the roller. Dwell time, ranging from 11 to 349 degrees, is determined by cam lobe alignment, while timing is set by cam position relative to the keyway. The external adjustment sprocket allows for altering the relationship between the drive mechanism and the rotating shaft. Housed in a NEMA Type 1 enclosure with a rugged cast iron side plate, the 803-P8W operates from -22 to 150F and can withstand non-operating temperatures from -22 to 200F. It weighs 10 kg (22 lbs) and is CE, UL, and CSA-certified.

Is Your Device Showing These Signs?

Allen Bradley 803-P8W push buttons commonly exhibit issues such as contact degradation due to oxidation or wear, leading to intermittent or failed signaling. Operators report problems with the operator head becoming loose or detached, requiring tightening or replacement. Environmental factors cause corrosion on the metal components, affecting electrical conductivity and mechanical integrity. The internal switch mechanism is prone to failure, resulting in a non-functional button. Wiring connections loosen over time, causing signal interruption. These issues are resolved through contact cleaning, operator head replacement, component refurbishment, switch mechanism repair, and wire terminal tightening.
