Product Description

The Allen-Bradley 1734-8CFG is a DC configurable input/output module from the Bulletin 1734 POINT I/O Digital Module series, featuring 8 I/O points that automatically configure as either inputs or outputs within an 8-24V DC range. Designed for use with 1734-TOPS, 1734-TOP, 1734-TBS, and 1734-TB wiring bases (key switch position 1), this module can be installed before or after base mounting, provided the base is properly keyed. It offers an on-state input current of 2-5 mA and an on-state output voltage of 10-28.8V DC, with a maximum power dissipation of 2.6W and thermal dissipation of 8.9 BTU/hour. The POINTBus current draw is 100 mA at 5V DC, and each input is independently configurable in millisecond intervals (default 1000 ms). Compliant with POINTBus backplane standards, it supports auto-baud, power, and auto-address device insertion/removal, and includes reverse polarity protection within an open-style enclosure. All connected I/Os require a PELV or SELV compliant power source.

Is Your Device Showing These Signs?

The Allen Bradley 1734-8CFG POINT I/O module commonly experiences field wiring terminal block failures, requiring replacement to restore proper signal transmission. Corrosion on the connector pins disrupts communication between the module and the I/O chassis, necessitating cleaning or module replacement. Internal component degradation causes inaccurate analog signal readings, demanding calibration or repair. Firmware corruption leads to communication errors with the PLC, mandating a firmware update or module replacement. Overvoltage or overcurrent events damage the analog input circuitry, resulting in module failure and the need for repair or replacement.

Our Repair Process for the

1734-8CFG

Our repair process for the Allen Bradley 1734-8CFG POINT I/O module begins with a thorough inspection to identify the failure. If field wiring terminal block failure is present, the terminal block is replaced. Corrosion on the connector pins requires immediate cleaning; if cleaning is insufficient, the module is replaced. Inaccurate analog signal readings are addressed through calibration; if calibration fails, the module undergoes component-level repair. Firmware corruption necessitates a firmware update; if the update fails, the module is replaced. Overvoltage or overcurrent damage to the analog input circuitry results in component-level repair or module replacement.
