Product Description
The Allen Bradley 1746-A2 is a 2-slot SLC 500 I/O expansion chassis that enhances system configuration flexibility by housing a 1747 SLC processor, 1746 SLC I/O adapter module, and 1746 I/O modules. Measuring 5.5 x 7 x 4 inches and weighing 0.3 kg, it requires a dedicated power supply (located on the left) with a backplane current of up to 10A at 5.1V DC and 2.88A at 24V DC, and supports back-panel mounting in an open enclosure. Utilizing chassis interconnection cables, up to three 1746-A2 chassis can be linked for a maximum of 30 module slots, addressed locally by an I/O adapter or processor in the leftmost chassis. Unused slots should be protected with a 1746-N2 card slot filler. Designed for non-hazardous environments, it operates between 0 and 60 degrees Celsius (32 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit) with a relative humidity of 5% to 95% (non-condensing).
Is Your Device Showing These Signs?
The Allen Bradley 1746-A2 SLC 500 chassis commonly experiences issues such as backplane failures, preventing proper communication between modules. Power supply degradation results in insufficient voltage levels, causing erratic module behavior and system faults. Corrosion on connector pins leads to intermittent connectivity and communication errors, necessitating thorough cleaning or replacement. Memory corruption within the processor module manifests as program errors or system crashes, requiring memory replacement or firmware updates. Component aging on the backplane introduces signal degradation, impacting overall system stability and performance.
