Product Description
The Allen-Bradley 1746-IM4 SLC 500 AC Input Module, designed for installation in a 1746 I/O chassis, features four 200-240V AC inputs with an operational range of 170-265V AC at 47-63 Hz. It draws 0.035A at 5.0V DC and 0.0A at 24V DC from the backplane. Input signal delay is 35ms (ON) and 45ms (OFF), with a maximum OFF-state voltage loss of 50V AC and leakage current of 2.0mA. At 240V AC, the nominal input current is 12mA, and the maximum surge current is 1.6A for 500sec. Each point has a maximum wattage of 0.35W, with a total module power dissipation of 1.6W. It provides 1500V AC isolation between the backplane and I/O, operates between 0-60C (32-140F) at 5-95% non-condensing humidity, and can be stored between -40-85C (-40-185F). It meets NEMA ICS 2-230 noise immunity standards and is UL-A196, CSA, and C-UL certified for hazardous locations, withstanding 30G shock and 2.5G vibration at 57-500 Hz.
Is Your Device Showing These Signs?
The Allen Bradley 1746-IM4 analog input module commonly experiences issues such as signal drift, calibration errors, and inaccurate readings due to component aging or environmental factors. Troubleshooting involves verifying field wiring integrity, inspecting terminal block connections for corrosion, and confirming proper grounding to mitigate noise interference. Module failure often necessitates replacement, but firmware updates and parameter adjustments within the PLC program can sometimes resolve software-related anomalies. Address configuration conflicts and backplane communication faults also contribute to operational problems, requiring careful examination of the PLC rack and power supply.
Technical specifications
The Allen-Bradley 1746-IM4 is an AC input module for SLC 500 systems, designed for a 1746 I/O chassis. It has four 200-240V AC inputs, operates within 170-265V AC, and has specific current draw, signal delay, voltage loss, and leakage current characteristics. It's rated for specific power dissipation, provides isolation, and operates within defined temperature and humidity ranges. The module also meets NEMA noise immunity standards and holds UL, CSA, and C-UL certifications for hazardous locations, withstanding specified shock and vibration levels.
Our Repair Process for the
1746-IM4
Our repair process for the Allen Bradley 1746-IM4 analog input module begins with a thorough verification of field wiring integrity, followed by a meticulous inspection of terminal block connections for corrosion, and confirmation of proper grounding to eliminate noise interference. Address configuration conflicts and backplane communication faults are examined by carefully assessing the PLC rack and power supply. If module failure is detected, replacement is required; however, firmware updates and parameter adjustments within the PLC program are performed to resolve any software-related anomalies.
