Product Description

The Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation 1747-DTAM-E is a data table access module designed for factory floor use with Allen-Bradley SLC 500 processors. It allows operators to change machine operating modes, clear processor faults, access data files, and transfer memory. It supports two operating modes (modify and monitor, selectable via jumper) and offers multilingual display capabilities (English, Spanish, German, French, Italian, and Japanese). While it facilitates memory data transfers between CPU EEPROM and RAM and functions as an operator interface, it does not support string, floating point, or ASCII data types. The UL and CSA approved module features a NEMA 12/13 rated enclosure and requires an operating temperature of 32-131F (0-55C). Ventilation is provided by enclosure holes, and additional holes can be drilled if needed, provided the original holes are covered during the process to prevent damage from metal shavings.

Is Your Device Showing These Signs?

The Allen Bradley 1747-DTAM-E commonly experiences communication failures due to corrupted firmware or faulty DH-485 network connections. Resolution involves reflashing the firmware using a compatible programming device and verifying proper termination and cabling within the DH-485 network. Backplane issues and power supply instability also contribute to operational problems; confirm proper voltage levels and inspect the backplane for damage or corrosion. Module configuration errors within the PLC program prevent proper data transmission, so verify the I/O configuration and data mapping.

Our Repair Process for the

1747-DTAM-E

Our repair process for the Allen Bradley 1747-DTAM-E begins with reflashing the firmware using a compatible programming device to address communication failures stemming from corrupted firmware. Technicians then verify proper termination and cabling within the DH-485 network to resolve connectivity issues. Voltage levels are confirmed and the backplane is inspected for damage or corrosion to eliminate backplane issues and power supply instability as potential causes. Finally, the I/O configuration and data mapping within the PLC program are verified to correct module configuration errors that prevent proper data transmission.
