Product Description

The Allen-Bradley 1747-SCNR SLC ControlNet Scanner Module interfaces a ControlNet device with an SLC processor, communicating over the network using M1/M0 file transfers and Discrete I/O (DIO). It complies with EN 50082-2 EMC standards. To prevent explosions in hazardous locations, disconnect power before connecting or disconnecting the ControlNet cable. The module has a 900 mA backplane current draw at 5V DC and operates between 0-60C (32-140F), with a storage temperature range of -40-85C (-40-185F) and 5-95% non-condensing relative humidity. It withstands 30g operating shock and 50g non-operating shock. It features two ControlNet ports (Channel A and B) requiring ControlNet taps (e.g., 1786-TPR, 1786-TPS, 1786-TPYR, 1786-TPYS) and RG-6 Quad Shield cable (1786-RG6) with optional BNC connectors. Coaxial repeaters (1786-RPCD) and a Coax Tool Kit can simplify connections. The ControlNet address, adjustable via rotary switches from 01-99 (default 00, invalid), must be configured. Always remove power from the SLC 500 chassis before installation to avoid damaging the electronic bus or other modules, and avoid touching the module's circuitry.

Is Your Device Showing These Signs?

The Allen Bradley 1747-SCNR SLC 500 scanner module commonly experiences issues such as corrupted configuration data requiring EEPROM reprogramming, communication faults stemming from backplane connectivity problems or damaged serial communication ports, and failures in the power supply circuitry causing intermittent operation or complete module failure. Resolve network errors by verifying proper DeviceNet cabling, addressing conflicts, and baud rate settings. Address firmware corruption through a forced firmware update procedure. Replace the module if component-level failures are present within the internal circuitry.

Technical specifications

  • The Allen-Bradley 1747-SCNR SLC ControlNet Scanner Module allows an SLC processor to communicate with ControlNet devices using M1/M0 file transfers and Discrete I/O. It meets EMC standards and requires safety precautions in hazardous locations. Key specs include a 900mA current draw, operating temperature of 0-60C, and shock resistance. It uses two ControlNet ports with specific taps and RG-6 cable. The ControlNet address must be configured via rotary switches. Power must be removed before installation to prevent damage.

Our Repair Process for the

1747-SCNR

Our repair process for the Allen Bradley 1747-SCNR SLC 500 scanner module begins with a comprehensive diagnostic evaluation to pinpoint the failure. This includes verifying DeviceNet cabling, resolving addressing conflicts, and confirming correct baud rate settings to eliminate network errors. If corrupted configuration data is found, the EEPROM is reprogrammed. Backplane connectivity issues and damaged serial communication ports are addressed through meticulous inspection and repair or port replacement. Power supply circuitry failures necessitate component-level repair or complete power supply replacement. Firmware corruption is resolved through a forced firmware update. If component-level failures are present within the internal circuitry beyond repair, the module is replaced.
