Product Description
The Allen-Bradley 1756-CNB ControlNet Bridge module provides a standard (non-redundant) interface between a ControlLogix rack and a ControlNet network. Supporting up to 64 bidirectional connections and 99 nodes at a 5 Mbps communication rate, it manages I/O data (scheduled and unscheduled) and bridges data between the ControlLogix backplane and the ControlNet network. It supports up to 20 buffers for unconnected messages. Featuring both BNC and RJ45 ports, the module requires node address configuration (01-99) via switches before use, allowing for standalone or redundant control setups (identical node addresses for redundancy). Its power consumption is 970mA at 5.1V DC and 1.7mA at 24V DC, with a power dissipation of 5.14W. The 1756-CNB facilitates distributed I/O applications, network bridging, and communication with HMIs/SCADA systems. It's compatible with various Allen-Bradley ControlNet devices and offers self-diagnostics via online backplane connection and a front panel display showing module status and parameters.
Is Your Device Showing These Signs?
The Allen Bradley 1756-CNB ControlNet bridge module commonly experiences issues such as communication failures due to corrupted firmware, node address conflicts, or physical layer problems like damaged BNC connectors and improper cable termination. Backplane connectivity issues, often stemming from a faulty chassis or power supply, prevent proper module initialization and network communication. Configuration errors within RSLogix 5000, including incorrect network parameters or duplicate node numbers, disrupt network operations. Resolving these problems involves firmware upgrades, verifying node addressing, inspecting cabling and connectors, confirming adequate power supply, and validating the ControlNet configuration within the PLC program.
