Product Description

The Allen-Bradley 1756-RM is a ControlLogix redundancy module that enables controller redundancy by managing connectivity between two identical controllers in a matching rack configuration. It monitors the redundancy system and module health via LED indicators. Series A and B versions can coexist, but using the same series is recommended for optimal performance, achieving speeds of 100 Mbps. It features a single-mode LC fiber optic connector and requires 1756-RMCx redundancy cables for synchronization. Configuration is done using the redundancy configuration tool and Studio 5000 Logix Designer. It's compatible with specific ControlLogix chassis and power supplies, occupying a single slot in any available chassis position. The module draws 4 mA at 1.2VDC, 1.2 mA at 5.1VDC, and 120 mA at 24VDC, dissipates 9 Watts of power, and has a thermal dissipation of 31 BTU/hour. It weighs 0.29 kg, operates between 0-60C, and can be stored between -40-85C, meeting CE, CSA, Ex, C-Tick, and c-UL-us standards.

Is Your Device Showing These Signs?

The Allen Bradley 1756-RM redundancy module commonly experiences issues such as corrupted firmware requiring a forced firmware update via ControlFlash, backplane communication failures due to damaged pins or incorrect module placement, and power supply faults leading to system instability. Configuration errors within the Studio 5000 environment, specifically related to redundancy parameters, cause synchronization problems between primary and secondary controllers. Intermittent failures stem from capacitor degradation on the module's PCB, necessitating component-level repair or module replacement. Resolve these issues through meticulous troubleshooting, firmware management, and hardware inspection.

Technical specifications

  • The Allen-Bradley 1756-RM is a ControlLogix redundancy module that allows for controller redundancy by connecting two identical controllers. It monitors system health via LEDs, and while Series A and B can coexist, using the same series is preferred for optimal performance. It uses fiber optic connections, requires specific redundancy cables, and is configured using dedicated software. It's compatible with specific ControlLogix hardware, occupies one chassis slot, and has defined power consumption, dissipation, and thermal characteristics. It also meets various industry standards.

Our Repair Process for the

1756-RM

Our repair process for the Allen Bradley 1756-RM redundancy module begins with a comprehensive diagnostic evaluation to pinpoint the root cause of the failure, addressing common issues such as corrupted firmware through a forced update using ControlFlash. Backplane communication failures are rectified by inspecting and repairing damaged pins, ensuring correct module placement. Power supply faults are resolved through thorough testing and component replacement, stabilizing the system. Configuration errors within Studio 5000 are corrected by verifying and adjusting redundancy parameters, synchronizing primary and secondary controllers. Intermittent failures traced to capacitor degradation are addressed via component-level repair or complete module replacement, guaranteeing optimal performance and system reliability.
