Product Description

The Allen Bradley 1761-NET-AIC is an advanced interface controller in the MicroLogix 1000 series that allows DF1-enabled devices to communicate on a DH485 network. Compatible with MicroLogix 1000, 1200, 1500, and SLC controllers, it can be powered by an external 24VDC supply or via the communication cable when connected to a MicroLogix or SLC PLC through the 8-pin mini-DIN interface. Its communication rate is set via a selector switch. Functioning as a point-to-point, RS-232 to RS-485, or RS-232 to half-duplex ASCII isolator, it features two RS-232 ports (9-pin SUB-D and 8-pin mini-DIN) and a DH485 Phoenix plug connector. It supports hardware handshaking or automated transmission signals and allows node address configuration in the connected device. It can be DIN rail or panel mounted and is compatible with various SLC 500 processors, MicroLogix, Logix controllers (via 1756-DH485), operator interfaces, PCs, and modems.

Is Your Device Showing These Signs?

The Allen Bradley 1761-NET-AIC commonly experiences communication failures due to incorrect network configuration, specifically improper DIP switch settings leading to errors in DF1 protocol parameters. Resolve issues by verifying the correct baud rate, parity, and station address settings. Cable integrity is essential; inspect for physical damage and ensure proper termination. Firmware corruption can occur, necessitating a firmware upgrade or re-flash. Power supply fluctuations cause intermittent connectivity problems; ensure a stable 24V DC power source. Address these points to maintain reliable PLC communication.
