Product Description
The Allen-Bradley 1769-IF4 is an analog input module compatible with MicroLogix 1500 and CompactLogix controllers. It features four individually configurable channels that accept current (0-21 mA, 3.2-21 mA) and voltage (-10.5V DC, -0.5-10.5V DC, -0.5-5.25V DC, 0.5-5.25V DC) signals, supporting nominal ranges like 0-20 mA, 4-20 mA, +/-10VDC, 1-5VDC, 0-5VDC, and 0-10VDC. The module uses a Delta-Sigma ADC with 14-bit (unipolar) or 14-bit plus sign (bipolar) resolution, and data can be formatted as engineering units, scaled for PID, percent range, or raw data. It offers configurable parameters like process alarms, input filters, and alarm deadbands. Open-circuit detection is enabled automatically, triggering an under-range error bit and potentially alerting the controller and monitoring systems. The module performs auto-calibration upon initial channel enablement or configuration changes. It requires an external power supply matching the input transmitter's specifications and supports single-ended or differential wiring. Key specifications include a common mode rejection ratio greater than 60 dB, a normal mode rejection ratio of -50 dB (50-60 Hz), an open-type enclosure for DIN rail or panel mounting, compatibility with 22-14 AWG solid and 22-16 AWG stranded cables, LED status indication, and dimensions of 87 x 35 x 118 mm. Input ranges are +/-10 Volts, 0 to 10 Volts, 0 to 5 Volts, 1 to 5 Volts, 0 to 20 mA, and 4 to 20 mA. Maximum current draw is 5 Volts DC (Series A & B) and 24 Volts DC (Series B). It has a rated working voltage of 30 Volts AC/DC, a common mode voltage range of +/-10 Volts, a storage temperature range of -40 to 85 degrees Celsius, an operating temperature range of 0 to 60 degrees Celsius, specified vibration and shock resistance, an operating altitude of 2000 meters, and a non-condensing relative humidity of 5 to 95%.
Is Your Device Showing These Signs?
The Allen Bradley 1769-IF4 analog input module commonly experiences issues such as calibration drift, resulting in inaccurate process variable readings. Resolve this by performing a thorough recalibration procedure using a precision voltage source. Wiring faults, including open circuits or shorts in the field wiring, cause signal degradation or complete loss of input. Inspect and correct field wiring terminations and cable integrity. Power supply fluctuations or insufficient power to the module lead to erratic behavior and data corruption. Verify the backplane power supply meets the module's voltage and current requirements. Firmware corruption or outdated firmware causes operational errors. Update the firmware to the latest revision to address known bugs and improve stability.
