The Allen-Bradley 1771-BH metal battery housing is part of the 1771-BB battery pack, a standard feature with the 1772-LV mini PLC-2/5 processor's system power supply. This battery pack, also including the 1771-BX mounting hardware and either two 1771-BA D-size alkaline batteries or an optional 1771-XO lithium battery (both compatible with the 1771-BH), provides backup power to the processor's RAM when the main power is interrupted, provided the processor is in the leftmost chassis slot. The 1771-BH casing secures the batteries and prevents contamination. An external battery pack can also back up the processor when removed from the chassis via a mini-processor transport cable. The 1771-BB pack and system power supply connect to the I/O chassis via a 1- or 5-foot I/O power cable. The power supply's front panel "DC On" indicator signals power issues (blown fuse, low voltage, overload), while the "Battery Low" indicator warns of low battery voltage, incorrect installation, or missing batteries; in this state, the battery pack provides up to one week of backup power.
