Product Description

The Allen-Bradley 1771-DLC gray encoder input module converts gray code to binary, requiring a 12-24V DC power supply. This 3cm x 15cm x 25cm, 1.3kg module operates between 0-60C (storage: -40-85C, 5-95% non-condensing humidity). It draws 120mA from the power supply for overload protection and sinks 6mA (12V DC) or 15mA (24V DC) per gray code input. Power should be centrally connected to both encoder and module. Use Belden 9556 shielded cable (max 50ft, single ground) to connect the encoder to the module's wiring arm. Keying bands are needed between pins 4/6 and 24/26 for correct module placement. Logic states are 10-27V DC (Logic 1) and 0-2V DC (Logic 0), with a digital resolution of 1/256. Prevent electrostatic discharge by avoiding contact with connectors/components and ensuring a static-free environment, including grounding yourself before handling.

Is Your Device Showing These Signs?

The Allen Bradley 1771-DLC commonly experiences issues related to backplane communication failures, manifesting as I/O errors and PLC downtime. Resolve these by inspecting the data highway cable for proper termination and continuity. Address module failures due to component degradation by replacing capacitors and integrated circuits on the board. Correct corrupted memory by clearing and reloading the PLC program. Overcome power supply problems by verifying voltage levels and replacing faulty power components. Ensure proper grounding to mitigate electrical noise interference that disrupts communication.
