Product Description
The Allen-Bradley 1771-OVN is a 10-30V DC sink output module with 32 outputs (grouped as four sets of eight) for local or remote processor systems, compatible with 1771-A1B, -A2B, -A3B, -A3B1, -A4B, or later I/O chassis. It grounds the output, requiring a positive voltage source for operation, and draws a maximum of 330mA from the chassis backplane. With a maximum on-state voltage drop of 1.5V DC and a maximum continuous current of 8A per module, it's suitable for positive voltage DC output signal termination. Install the module in any chassis slot except the leftmost, ensuring correct keying between pins 14/16 and 32/34 to avoid damage. Do not use the 1771-OVN in the same chassis as a 1771-IX Thermocouple Module; it is only compatible with the 1771-IXE.
Is Your Device Showing These Signs?
The Allen Bradley 1771-OVN output module commonly experiences issues such as blown output fuses due to overcurrent conditions caused by inductive load spikes or short circuits in field wiring. Technicians address failed triacs or transistors, resulting in non-functional outputs, by replacing the faulty components or the entire module. Corrosion on the edge connector pins, stemming from environmental factors, impedes proper communication with the PLC backplane; cleaning or replacing the connector resolves this. Ground loops and noise interference induce erratic output behavior, necessitating proper grounding techniques and signal filtering. Firmware corruption, though rare, demands a firmware update or module replacement to restore functionality.
Technical specifications
The Allen-Bradley 1771-OVN is a 32-output, 10-30V DC sink output module designed for Allen-Bradley I/O chassis. It grounds the output, requires a positive voltage source, and draws 330mA. It supports up to 8A per module with a 1.5V voltage drop. Installation requires correct keying and placement in any slot except the leftmost. It's incompatible with the 1771-IX Thermocouple Module, only working with the 1771-IXE.
Our Repair Process for the
1771-OVN
Our repair process for the Allen Bradley 1771-OVN output module begins with a thorough inspection to identify blown output fuses, failed triacs or transistors, corroded edge connector pins, grounding issues, noise interference, or firmware corruption. Technicians replace blown output fuses and address overcurrent conditions. Faulty triacs or transistors are replaced, or the entire module is substituted if necessary. Edge connector pins are cleaned or replaced to eliminate corrosion. Grounding is corrected, and signal filtering is implemented to mitigate noise interference. Firmware updates or module replacements are performed to resolve firmware corruption.
