Product Description

The Allen-Bradley 1772-MJ is a 3K non-volatile EEPROM memory module designed to provide backup memory for Mini-PLC-2/05 processors. It features a 4A output current at 5V DC, operates at 50-60 Hz with a 10-32V DC digital voltage range, and exhibits typical off-state signal delays of 29 +/- 8 ms (AC) and 30 +/- 7 ms (DC). This conformally-coated module (4.5 x 12.4 x 6.3 inches, 0.3 lbs/0.1 kg) utilizes a 1771-WN wiring arm and should be installed on the bottom of the processor, taking care to avoid touching the recessed conductors due to static sensitivity and potential corrosion. In remote program mode, it allows for memory duplication and transfer between the CMOS RAM and the module, offering options for conditional transfer, automatic EEPROM backup to RAM (without EEPROM transfer), and use as an alternate program storage. Memory protection can be enabled by removing a jumper on the module.

Is Your Device Showing These Signs?

The Allen Bradley 1772-MJ I/O module commonly experiences failures related to corroded backplane connectors, leading to intermittent communication errors and system downtime. Technicians address issues such as failed electrolytic capacitors on the power supply section, causing voltage instability and operational faults. Resolving these problems involves cleaning and reseating the connector, replacing faulty capacitors, and performing thorough diagnostic testing to ensure proper functionality and prevent recurrence of I/O failures. Firmware corruption also occurs, necessitating a firmware reload to restore proper operation.

Our Repair Process for the

1772-MJ

Our repair process for the Allen Bradley 1772-MJ I/O module begins with a meticulous inspection of the backplane connector for corrosion; technicians will clean and reseat the connector to ensure optimal contact. Next, the power supply section undergoes a comprehensive evaluation, with any failed electrolytic capacitors replaced to stabilize voltage and eliminate operational faults. If firmware corruption is suspected, a firmware reload is performed to restore proper operation. Following these steps, rigorous diagnostic testing is conducted to verify full functionality and prevent any future I/O failures.
