Product Description

The Allen-Bradley 1785-ENET is a PLC5 Ethernet interface module that provides Ethernet connectivity to PLC5 controllers for distributed I/O, communication with HMIs, SCADA, and DCS systems, and program downloading/online connection. It features a single RJ45 port supporting 10/100 Mbps Ethernet TCP/IP with auto-negotiation and status indicators (STAT, 100M, 10M). It connects to the PLC5 backplane via a 1771 chassis and is compatible with various PLC5 controllers, enabling dual Ethernet link capability in some configurations. Compatibility varies by series and revision, with Series E and later supporting all Enhanced, Ethernet, and ControlNet PLC-5 controllers. The module requires 1.0A at 5V DC, dissipates 5W, weighs 0.77 kg, and measures 273.05 x 31.75 x 146.05 mm. It provides 50V circuit isolation and operates in temperatures from 0 to 60 degrees Celsius, withstanding vibration and shock.

Is Your Device Showing These Signs?

The Allen Bradley 1785-ENET module commonly experiences issues such as corrupted firmware requiring a firmware upgrade via BOOTP or DHBOOTP, communication failures due to incorrect IP address configuration or subnet mask settings, backplane communication errors stemming from a faulty connection or module incompatibility, and Ethernet port failures necessitating hardware replacement. Resolving these issues involves verifying network settings, updating firmware, inspecting backplane connections, and confirming proper module configuration within the PLC system. Diagnosing with diagnostic software such as RSLogix 5 is essential.

Our Repair Process for the

1785-ENET

Our repair process for the Allen Bradley 1785-ENET module begins with a thorough diagnostic assessment using RSLogix 5 to identify the root cause of the failure. This includes verifying network settings such as IP address and subnet mask, updating the module's firmware via BOOTP or DHBOOTP to address corruption issues, and meticulously inspecting backplane connections for faults or incompatibilities. If communication failures persist or Ethernet port malfunctions are detected, a hardware replacement is performed. The module is then rigorously tested within the PLC system to ensure proper configuration and full operational status before being returned.
