Product Description

The Allen-Bradley 1788-EN2DNR is an externally mounted Ethernet/IP to DeviceNet linking device featuring two Ethernet ports and one DeviceNet terminal. It functions as a CIP safety message bridge, supporting various connection types (32 Class 0, 21 Class 1, 16 Class 3) and beacon-based DLR topology. Its Ethernet port includes an integrated web server accessible via standard browsers. The DeviceNet port operates as a full DeviceNet master, supporting up to 63 slave devices over Ethernet TCP/IP, safety I/O, ADR (256KB), quick connect, and standard I/O messaging. Configuration is done via RSNetworx for DeviceNet. This IP20-rated device centralizes data storage and I/O tables between networks with a 5ms maximum network-to-network delay for Class 0 CIP Safety connections, appearing as a single device on the network. It operates between 0-60C and stores between -40-85C, requiring an external 24V DC SELV/PELV power supply and DIN rail mounting. Designed for indoor use within a flame-retardant enclosure, its USB port is for temporary programming only. Use specified wire gauges and cable types for power, Ethernet, and DeviceNet connections.

Is Your Device Showing These Signs?

The Allen Bradley 1788-EN2DNR EtherNet/IP network adapter commonly experiences issues such as communication failures due to incorrect IP address configuration, subnet mask misconfiguration, or gateway settings. Firmware corruption during upgrades requires a re-flash procedure. Backplane connectivity problems arise from damaged connector pins or improper module seating. Network congestion or excessive broadcast traffic leads to performance degradation, necessitating network segmentation or QoS implementation. Power supply fluctuations or inadequate grounding causes intermittent faults and module resets.
