Product Description

The Allen-Bradley 1788-ENBT is a compact Ethernet/IP daughtercard designed for FlexLogix controllers. It provides Ethernet/IP communication via a single RJ45 port, supporting 10/100 Mbps speeds in half or full-duplex mode. Powered through the backplane, it consumes 2.33W and dissipates 8.0 BTU/hr. The module supports direct connection or interfacing via standard Ethernet switches for communication with HMIs, SCADA systems, converters, gateways, and other controllers. Status LEDs indicate network, link, and utilization status. The 1788-ENBT does not support removal or installation under power; ensure the controller is powered off before installation to prevent electrical arcs.

Is Your Device Showing These Signs?

The Allen Bradley 1788-ENBT Ethernet/IP bridge commonly experiences issues such as network connectivity failures due to incorrect IP address configuration, subnet mask mismatches, or gateway settings. Firmware corruption during upgrades leads to module malfunction, requiring a forced firmware update via BOOTP/DHCP. Backplane communication errors arise from faulty connections or incompatibility with the PLC chassis, necessitating inspection and reseating. Excessive network traffic or broadcast storms overload the module's processing capabilities, demanding network segmentation and traffic filtering. Hardware failures, including damaged Ethernet ports or internal component degradation, necessitate module replacement.
