Product Description
The Allen Bradley (Rockwell Automation) 1791-IOVW is a compact I/O module block integrating an adapter, power supply, I/O module, and I/O rack. It features 32 sourcing inputs, 32 sinking outputs, programmable control interface, signal conditioning, and I/O connections. LED indicators display Fuse, Active, Communication, Power, and I/O status. Connections are made via two 37-pin removable terminal blocks for remote I/O, plus a separate terminal block for external power (18-26.4V DC recommended). Configuration switches allow setting baud rate, I/O group, last state, last rack, and processor restart lockout. The module dissipates 51.8 BTU/hr (15.1 Watts), measures 156.21 x 17 x 44.7 mm, and requires 14-gauge stranded wire. Operating temperature is 0-60C (storage: -40-85C). Connect outputs to the right terminals and inputs to the left. Use Belden 9463 cable for remote I/O links, wiring blocks in series with a terminator resistor at both ends of the link if it's the last block. The 1791-IOVW is incompatible with the 1747-DSN distributed I/O scanner module.
Is Your Device Showing These Signs?
The Allen Bradley 1791-IOVW is commonly repaired for communication failures stemming from corrupted backplanes or damaged Ethernet ports, resulting in a loss of network connectivity and preventing data exchange with the PLC. I/O module failures are frequent, manifesting as unresponsive input channels or non-operational output points due to component degradation or overvoltage events. Power supply issues also occur, causing intermittent operation or complete module shutdown, often traced to capacitor degradation or regulator malfunction. Addressing these issues restores proper functionality and ensures reliable operation within the automation system.
