Product Description

The Allen-Bradley 1794-ASB2 is a FLEX remote I/O adapter supporting up to two FLEX I/O modules and communication speeds of 57.6, 115.2, or 230.4 Kbps. It requires a 24V DC power supply with a 23A inrush current for 2ms per adapter and draws 175mA at 24V. Its operating voltage range is 19.2-31.2V DC. The adapter provides a 5V DC FlexBus output with a maximum current of 640mA, and draws 450mA and 330mA at 24V DC. Power consumption is 4.2W at 24V DC, with a maximum power dissipation of 3.4W and thermal dissipation of 11.6 BTU/hr at 19.2V DC. It features 50V continuous isolation, type-tested at 750V DC for 60 seconds between power, RIO, and system. Status LEDs indicate power, adapter, and connection status. The IP20-rated adapter measures 3.4 x 2.7 x 2.7 inches and can be DIN rail or panel mounted. Important: Do not use this adapter with PLC-5/15 or PLC-5/25 processors.

Is Your Device Showing These Signs?

The Allen Bradley 1794-ASB2 often presents issues related to corrupted adapter configuration, resulting in communication failures on the DeviceNet network. Resolve these by verifying and restoring the adapter's configuration parameters using RSNetWorx. Scan list inconsistencies and node address conflicts also disrupt network operations; ensure accurate scan list programming and unique node addressing. Power supply fluctuations and improper grounding introduce noise and erratic behavior; stabilize power and establish a robust grounding system. Firmware incompatibility with the PLC or other modules impedes proper function; upgrade or downgrade the firmware to a compatible version. Finally, connector pin damage or cable faults interrupt signal integrity; inspect and replace damaged connectors or cables.
