Product Description

The Allen-Bradley 2098-DSD-005X is an Ultra 3000 series indexing servo drive designed for motion control applications. It operates with a single-phase input voltage of 100-240VAC rms at an input frequency range of 47-63 Hz. The drive provides a continuous output current of 2.5 A (0-pk) and an intermittent output current of 7.5 A (0-pk), with a continuous output power of 0.25 kW at 115VAC and 0.5 kW at 230VAC input. This drive supports indexing functionality, enabling pre-set motion paths for standardized operations, useful in systems with repeated routines or uniform parameters. Compatible accessories include the 2090-UXLF-106 external AC line filter, 2090-UCSR-A300 active shunt module, 2090-UXPC-D09xx serial cable interface, 2090-U3AE-D44xx controller interface cable with pre-molded connector, and 2090-U3CC-D44xx single-axis to no connector controller interface cable. The 2098-DSD-005X also supports Serial Real-Time Communication System (SERCOS) for communication with SERCOS-capable servo motors, including H-Series, F-Series, MP Series, 1326AB Series, and Y-series servo motors.

As a high-performance digital servo drive, the 2098-DSD-005X is used for motion control in a wide range of applications. It has a nominal input current of 5A with a surge of 100A. The drive has a nominal continuous output rating of 2.5A, peaking at 7.5A (intermittent), with a bus capacitance of 1410 μF and 400V DC BUS over-voltage protection. Its power output is 0.5kW, and the total energy absorption capability is 38J at 230V AC. The 2098-DSD-005X's circuit is protected with 230V AC Class J and Class CC Bussmann fuses, and it has a maximum power dissipation of 48W during operation. The drive features 8 optically-isolated 12-24V active high-current sinking digital inputs and 4 optically-isolated 12-24V current-sourcing digital outputs, with 1 N.O. output (rated at 30V DC, 1 A max) and an overall I/O response lag of 100μs. It also has a +/-10V, 2mA max analog output with 8 bits resolution. Communication is facilitated through a single RS-232/RS-422/RS-485 Serial port via the CN3, 9-pin female D-sub serial port connector, with communication rates from 1200 to 38,400 bps.

The 2098-DSD-005X has an operating temperature range of 0°C to 55°C (32°F to 131°F) at 5-95% non-condensing relative humidity and a storage temperature range of -40°C to 70°C (-40°F to 158°F). It is designed for optimal function up to an altitude of 1500 meters (4921.5ft) without de-rating and can withstand an operational shock of 15G and a vibration of 2.5G at 10-200Hz. The 2098-DSD-005X weighs 1.8kg and has dimensions of 98.1mm x 32.77mm x 65.02mm.
