Product Description

The Allen-Bradley 2098-DSD-020X Ultra 3000 Digital Servo Drive with Indexing is a single-phase, high-performance drive designed for operation with 100-240V AC, 18A (nominal) input, and input frequencies of 47-63Hz. The drive features a bus capacitance of 1880 µF and provides 400V DC BUS overvoltage protection.  

The 2098-DSD-020X has a total output power of 2KW and a maximum Energy Absorption Capability of 51 Joules. Circuit protection is provided by (LPJ-20SP) Class J and (FNQ-R-20) Class CC fuses, and the drive supports a 5V Auxiliary Logic supply. For auxiliary feedback, it offers A quad B, Step/Direction, and CW/CCW input modes, with a 2.5MHz maximum input signal and selectable differential, single-ended, and open collector input types.

The drive dissipates 50W of heat and is designed for operation within a temperature range of 40-70° Celsius (-40-158° Fahrenheit) and a relative humidity range of 5-95% (non-condensing). Its velocity regulator employs a Proportional+Integral+Derivative (PID) controller with a 250 µs update rate, and it utilizes a Digital PID with feed-forward capability for positioning control.

The 2098-DSD-020X has 8 optically-isolated digital inputs and 4 optically-isolated outputs, along with Normally-Open relay outputs rated for a maximum voltage of 30V DC and a maximum current of 1A. Communication with other devices is achieved through the 9-pin female D-Sub Connector (CN3) serial port, using a single RS-232/RS-422/RS-485 serial port with selectable baud communication speeds of 1200, 2400, 4800, 9600, 19200, and 38400.

The drive is designed to withstand a shock of 15G and a vibration of 2.5G at 10-200Hz, and it can operate optimally at altitudes up to 1500m (4921.5ft). The 2098-DSD-020X weighs approximately 2.1kg (4.6lbs) and has dimensions of 98.1mm x 32.77mm x 65.02mm.

Specifically, the 2098-DSD-020X is designed for use with an FNQ-R-20 Class CC fuse and an LPJ-20SP Class J fuse. This Ultra drive has a nominal input current requirement of 18 A, rms and 100 Ampere for series A and B; 20 Ampere for series C drive at 230VAC (0-pk). The drive's bus capacitance is rated at 1880 µF, and it provides Bus Overvoltage protection at 400 VDC. The drive offers an energy absorption capability of 125 Joules when operated at 115VAC input and 51 Joules at 230VAC input.  

For series A or B drives, the 2098-DSD-020X is limited to one (1) contactor cycle every two (2) minutes, while for Series C drives, the limit is one contactor cycle every ten (10) seconds for up to two (2) minutes, not exceeding a maximum of 12 cycles in five (5) minutes.

The 2098-DSD-020X is designed to operate within a temperature range of 0° C to 55° C (32° F to 131° F) and for storage in a temperature range of -40° C to 70° C (-40° F to 158° F), with a relative humidity range of 5-95%. The drive's operating altitude is 1500 meters without derating, and performance derates by 3% for every 300 m increase beyond that.
