The Allen-Bradley 2098-DSD-030-SE is an Ultra 3000 drive with integrated Serial Real-time Communication System (SERCOS) capability, belonging to the 2098 Digital Servo Drive product family. This drive is powered by an external supply voltage of 100-240VAC, 1-Phase, at a frequency of 47-63 Hz. It has a nominal input current of 28 Amperes and a maximum inrush current of 50 Amperes at 230VAC (0-peak).

The 2098-DSD-030-SE also has auxiliary AC input current specifications: 1.0 A for 115V ac (rms) nominal, 0.5 A for 230V ac (rms) nominal, 47 A for 115VAC (0-peak) maximum inrush, and 95 A for 230V ac (0-peak) maximum inrush. It features an internal shunt resistance of 35 Ohms and a bus overvoltage protection of 452VDC.

This Ultra 3000 Drive is equipped with various connectors and rotary switches for operation configuration. It includes the CN1 connector (a 44-pin interface for I/O), the CN2 connector (a 15-pin interface for Motor Feedback), and the CN3 connector (for Serial communication). The module's front panel also features three (3) rotary switches: two for setting the node address and one for configuring the drive's data rate. Additionally, it has a Module Status LED to indicate the drive's overall state and a Network Status LED to display communication activity. A seven-segment display provides codes related to the module's current operational state and the SERCOS interface, located at the bottom of the drive module.

The SERCOS fiber-optic cable used with the 2098-DSD-030-SE drive offers immunity to external noise and vibrations, providing excellent insulation. The seven-segment display offers information about ongoing processes. Enhanced controls support the standalone capabilities of the Ultra3000 drive system. Field-programmable memory aids operations requiring memory-enabled instructions for interfacing with remote devices. In case of power loss, the 2098-DSD-030-SE offers an option to supply external logic power to maintain its position.
