Product Description
The Allen-Bradley 2098-IPD-020 is an Ultra 5000 Intelligent Positioning Drive, designed to drive servo motors with high positioning accuracy. This drive operates with a single-phase AC input voltage requirement of 100-240Vrms and an input frequency of 47-63 Hz. It delivers an output power of 1.0 kW at 115 VAC input and 2.0 kW at 230VAC input. Additionally, the output current specifications for this drive are a 10A Continuous Output Current and a 30A Output Peak Current.
When installing this intelligent positioning drive, several factors must be considered. As a controlgear device, it must be installed within an enclosure that complies with IEC60529 requirements. The enclosure should provide a rigid and vertical mounting surface, minimize shock and vibration, and prevent the entry of particulates and contaminants common in industrial environments. Furthermore, the ambient temperature within the enclosure must not exceed 55° C (131° F), necessitating the use of appropriately sized climate control devices like fans or heaters to maintain the required temperature. Proper mounting clearances are also crucial for adequate airflow and sufficient working and servicing space. The required mounting clearances are 12.7 mm or 0.5 inches on the sides and 50.8 mm or 2.0 inches on the top and bottom.
The Allen-Bradley 2098-IPD-020 has a single-phase 100-240V AC input voltage, a nominal input current of 18 A rms, and an AC input frequency of 47-63 Hz. It provides a continuous output current of 10A and an output peak current of 30A at zero-peak. When operating at 230V AC input, it has a 2 kW continuous power output and an energy absorption capability of 51 Joules.
The 2098-IPD-020 Intelligent Positioning Drive ships with an installation manual (publication 2098-IN001), a screwdriver, two I/O connector plugs, and a clear plastic terminal strip cover. The plastic cover is intended for installation on the power terminal strip to provide a physical barrier and added protection. The pluggable spring clamp 28-pin CN1A connector is used for digital I/O, while the 14-pin CN1B connector is for auxiliary encoder and analog I/O signal connections.
The 230V AC 2098-IPD-020 Servo Drive is equipped with eight general-purpose digital outputs, including seven transistor outputs and one single relay output with normally open contacts. It's important to note that the transistor outputs do not have overload protection. These digital outputs can be configured in groups as either current sinking (active high) or current sourcing (active low). The drive also includes commissioning and diagnostic tools designed to optimize system performance and enhance productivity.
