Product Description

The Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation 20G1AND186JN0NNNNN PowerFlex 755 drive, a variable speed motor controller, simplifies setup with its autotune feature. This feature, accessed via Parameter 70, automatically assesses motor characteristics through a series of tests, minimizing manual data entry errors. It offers five selections: ready, calculate, static tune, rotate tune, and inertia tune. The calculate selection automatically configures IR voltage drop (Parameter 73), Ixo voltage drop (Parameter 74), Flux current reference (Parameter 75), and Slip RPM (Parameter 621) based on a lookup table updated with nameplate values. Static tune tests are performed without motor rotation, while rotate tune, best used after static tune, requires the motor to be uncoupled from the load in sensorless vector control mode to ensure accurate results. The collected motor data is stored in non-volatile memory for use when the motor and drive are activated.

Is Your Device Showing These Signs?

The Allen Bradley 20G1AND186JN0NNNNN PowerFlex 755 AC drive commonly experiences issues related to IGBT failures, often indicated by fault codes. Resolving these faults requires replacing the damaged IGBT module and thoroughly testing gate drive circuitry. Capacitor bank degradation is another frequent problem, leading to DC bus voltage instability and drive tripping; capacitor replacement is mandatory. Communication faults on the Ethernet/IP network occur, necessitating firmware updates, network configuration verification, and cable integrity checks. Overcurrent and overvoltage faults arise from improper motor tuning or load conditions, requiring adjustments to drive parameters and motor insulation testing. Cooling fan failures cause overheating and drive derating; fan replacement is essential to maintain thermal performance.

Technical specifications

  • The Allen-Bradley PowerFlex 755 drive (20G1AND186JN0NNNNN) uses an autotune feature (Parameter 70) to simplify motor setup. This feature automatically determines motor characteristics, reducing manual input errors. It offers options like "calculate" (which configures voltage and current parameters based on nameplate data), "static tune" (no motor rotation), and "rotate tune" (requires motor uncoupling for accurate sensorless vector control). The collected motor data is saved for future use.

Our Repair Process for the

20G1AND186JN0NNNNN

Our repair process for the Allen Bradley 20G1AND186JN0NNNNN PowerFlex 755 AC drive begins with a comprehensive fault code analysis to identify the root cause of the failure. For IGBT failures, the damaged IGBT module is replaced, and the gate drive circuitry undergoes thorough testing. Capacitor bank degradation necessitates complete capacitor replacement to stabilize DC bus voltage. Communication faults are addressed through firmware updates, network configuration verification, and cable integrity checks. Overcurrent and overvoltage faults require adjustments to drive parameters and motor insulation testing to ensure proper motor tuning and load conditions. Cooling fan failures demand immediate fan replacement to prevent overheating and maintain optimal thermal performance.
