Product Description
The Allen-Bradley 2711P-RN16 is a communication adapter for PanelView Plus, PanelView Plus CE, and PanelView Plus 6 graphic terminals (7-15 inch/700-1500 range). It installs on top of a Logic module to provide Data Highway Plus (DH+), Remote I/O (RIO), and DH-485 network connectivity. When used with PanelView Plus 6, only DH+ and DH-485 are supported. It is not compatible with PanelView Plus 7. The adapter features one DH485 port and one DH+/RIO port, both using phoenix connectors, and two LED status indicators for network diagnostics. DH+ and RIO support multi-node, long-distance communication via daisy-chain topology, requiring 1770-CD or Belden Blue Hose cable. DH-485 also supports daisy-chain topology, using Belden #3106A or #9842 cable. The 2711P-RN16 enables remote programming and monitoring, process and device status monitoring, data acquisition, and supervisory controls. Excessive DH-485 traffic can impact performance. The DH-485 network supports initiators and responders, with a default maximum node address of 31. At least one initiator is required. The maximum network length is 4000 feet, supporting up to 32 devices, with the ability to add/remove nodes without network disruption. Shipping weight is 3 pounds, and dimensions are 11 x 8 x 6 inches.
Is Your Device Showing These Signs?
The Allen Bradley 2711P-RN6 commonly experiences communication failures stemming from corrupted firmware, necessitating a firmware upgrade or re-flash. Ethernet port damage due to electrostatic discharge or voltage surges requires port replacement or complete unit repair. Dim or non-functional backlights are resolved through backlight inverter or LCD replacement. Touchscreen unresponsiveness is corrected via touchscreen calibration or replacement. Power supply failures, indicated by a lack of power or intermittent operation, demand power supply repair or replacement.
Technical specifications
The Allen-Bradley 2711P-RN6 is a communication adapter for PanelView Plus (7-inch to 15-inch, 700 to 1500 series), PanelView Plus CE (7-inch to 15-inch, 700 to 1500 series), and PanelView Plus 6 (7-inch to 15-inch, 700 to 1500 series) graphic operator terminals, incompatible with PanelView Plus 7, supporting Data Highway Plus (DH+), Remote I/O (RIO), and DH-485 networks (DH+ and DH485 only for PanelView Plus 6, no RIO support). It features one DH485 port (6-pin Phoenix connector) and one DH+ / RIO communication port (3-pin Phoenix connector), with two LED status indicators (OFF: Channel is not online; Blinking Green: Device is the only node on the network; Solid Green: Device is online and receiving token; Blinking Red: DH-485: Duplicate node / DH+: Parity error; Solid Red: Failed self-test). It supports daisy-chain topology for DH+, RIO, and DH-485, requiring 1770-CD or Belden Blue Hose cable for DH+ / RIO and Belden #3106A or #9842 for DH-485, offering multi-node communication, long-distance support, and fast data transmission rate for DH+ / RIO, and remote programming and monitoring support for DH-485. Functionality includes process status monitoring, device status monitoring, data acquisition and monitoring, program uploading and downloading, and supervisory controls, with a maximum network length of 4000 feet, up to 32 devices, node management supporting adding and removing nodes without disrupting the network, DH-485 device classes of initiators and responders, a maximum configurable node address of 31 (default) for all initiators and responders, requiring at least 1 initiator on the DH-485 network, with a shipping weight of 3 pounds and shipping dimensions of 11 x 8 x 6 inches.
