It can be installed locally or remotely via Remote I/O, and functions as either a Modbus master or slave with two serial interfaces. The module features a microcontroller managing backplane and DUART communication, data transfer to the PLC, and LED status indicators, while supporting RS-232, RS-422, and RS-485 protocols through two DB25 female connectors. It draws 0.65 Amps at 5 VDC, operates between 0-60C with 5-95% relative humidity, and stores between -40-85C. Power is supplied by replaceable, non-rechargeable 3.6V lithium-thionyl-chloride 1/2AA batteries with a 10-year shelf life at 68F. The module has an operational shock rating of 30 G and a non-operational shock rating of 50 G.
