Product Description

The Allen-Bradley 803-B8RHRA is a robust Style B rotating cam limit switch designed for repetitive machine cycles. Featuring 8 circuits, a right-hand standard shaft extension, and a 40:1 speed reducer, it offers adjustable internal dwell time and bidirectional rotation. It includes 10 Amp snap-action contacts (1 N.O., 1 N.C.), a spring-loaded cam-roller assembly, and a cam duration range of 14 to 346 degrees, with a maximum shaft speed of 150 RPM. The switch, housed in a Type 1 indoor-rated enclosure suitable for any mounting plane, operates between -30 and 66 degrees Celsius and can be stored between -30 and 93 degrees Celsius. It exhibits normal shaft torques of 3, 7, and 0.5 inch-pounds depending on cam roller position and weighs approximately 16.3 kg (36 lbs). Timing adjustments are only possible when the switch is stationary. Common applications include waterway gate operations, punch presses, assembly lines, packing machines, injection molding, and steel forming.

Is Your Device Showing These Signs?

The Allen Bradley 803-B8RHRA suffers from common failures including coil burnout due to overvoltage or inrush current, contact erosion from repetitive switching of inductive loads, and mechanical wear in the operating mechanism leading to sluggish response or failure to actuate. Troubleshooting involves checking coil resistance, inspecting contact surfaces for pitting or welding, and verifying proper mechanical linkage movement. Replacement of the coil, contacts, or entire relay is necessary to restore functionality. Proper surge suppression and adherence to specified operating parameters mitigate these issues.

Our Repair Process for the

803-B8RHRA

Our repair process for the Allen Bradley 803-B8RHRA relay begins with a comprehensive assessment of the unit to diagnose coil burnout, contact erosion, or mechanical wear. Technicians measure coil resistance, visually inspect contact surfaces for damage, and evaluate mechanical linkage movement. Upon identifying the failure, the appropriate component, whether the coil, contacts, or the entire relay, is replaced with a new, fully tested part. Following the replacement, the relay undergoes rigorous testing to ensure it meets original performance specifications and operates reliably under specified conditions. To prevent future failures, we recommend implementing proper surge suppression and adhering strictly to the relay's specified operating parameters.
