Product Description

The Allen-Bradley 803-PL2 Rotating Cam Limit Switch is a robust, operator-less control device for heavy-duty industrial machines with cyclical operations or motion synchronized to a rotating shaft, suitable for applications like packaging, steel forming, and injection molding. It features a shaft-mounted cam actuating two circuits with normally-open contacts (25A carrying current, 30A/3A MAKE/BREAK at 600VAC) via a spring-loaded cam-roller. The switch includes a 150 RPM shaft with oversized ball bearings and two adjustable cam assemblies, allowing for dwell time adjustment based on lobe size and segment position, ranging from a minimum when lobes align to a maximum when offset. Timing, measured in degrees relative to the keyway/TDC, offers a cam duration range of 110 to 3490, influencing machine operation through high-speed internal dwell time and timing settings. It comes with a standard right shaft extension, a NEMA Type 1 enclosure, an operating temperature range of -30 to 66C (-22 to 150F), a storage temperature range of -30 to 93C (-22 to 200F), weighs approximately 5.9 kg (13 lbs) without cams, and measures 150.9mm x 181mm x 138.1mm (5.9" x 7.13" x 5.44").

Is Your Device Showing These Signs?

The Allen Bradley 803-PL2 pilot light frequently exhibits issues such as burned-out incandescent lamps requiring lamp replacement, corroded terminal blocks causing intermittent electrical connections and operational failure, and damaged or cracked lens covers affecting visibility and ingress protection. Field technicians address these problems through component replacement, terminal cleaning or replacement, and lens cover swaps to restore proper illumination and environmental sealing. Inrush current during startup can shorten lamp life; consider using a resistor or LED replacement. Vibration can loosen connections; ensure proper torque on terminal screws.

Our Repair Process for the

803-PL2

Our repair process for the Allen Bradley 803-PL2 pilot light begins with a thorough inspection to identify burned-out lamps, corroded terminal blocks, or damaged lens covers. Technicians replace faulty incandescent lamps to restore illumination. Corroded terminal blocks are either meticulously cleaned to remove corrosion or replaced entirely to ensure secure electrical connections. Damaged or cracked lens covers are swapped out to maintain visibility and environmental sealing. To mitigate premature lamp failure, implement a resistor or LED replacement to manage inrush current. Furthermore, technicians verify and correct terminal screw torque to prevent loosening due to vibration, ensuring long-term operational reliability.
