Product Description

The ProSoft Technology ILX34-MBS232 is a Modbus serial module designed for point-to-point applications with Distributed 1734 Point I/O systems or CompactLogix L1 processors, functioning as either a master or slave. For optimal performance, the connecting cable should be 15.2 meters or less. Like other ILX34-MBS modules, it includes add-on instructions that create UDTs for logical status and control data definitions, supports up to 1000 data words, 30 Modbus commands, and 36 words per command. Configuration data is backed up in the CompactLogix project file, making it suitable for SCADA and field device interface applications. Communication parameters include a baud rate of 110 to 38.4 kbaud, 1 or 2 stop bits, 7 or 8 data bits, and odd, even, or no parity. Storage temperature should be between -40C and 85C, while operating temperature should be between -20C and 55C, with a non-condensing relative humidity of 5-95% for both storage and operation.

Is Your Device Showing These Signs?

The Allen Bradley ILX34-MBS232 commonly requires resolution for communication failures stemming from incorrect Modbus TCP/IP configuration, including IP address conflicts and improper gateway settings. Troubleshooting often involves verifying serial communication parameters such as baud rate, parity, and data bits to ensure proper Modbus RTU/ASCII to Modbus TCP/IP conversion. Firmware corruption necessitates a re-flash procedure, and hardware failures within the Ethernet or serial ports demand component-level repair or replacement. Addressing these issues restores seamless data exchange between Modbus devices and the Ethernet network.

Our Repair Process for the

ILX34-MBS232

Our repair process for the Allen Bradley ILX34-MBS232 begins with a comprehensive diagnostic assessment to pinpoint the cause of communication failure, focusing on Modbus TCP/IP configuration, IP address conflicts, and gateway settings. We meticulously verify serial communication parameters, including baud rate, parity, and data bits, to guarantee accurate Modbus RTU/ASCII to Modbus TCP/IP conversion. If firmware corruption is identified, a complete re-flash procedure is executed. In cases of hardware failure affecting Ethernet or serial ports, we perform component-level repairs or replacements as required to restore full functionality. This rigorous process ensures seamless data exchange between Modbus devices and the Ethernet network.
