Product Description

The Allen-Bradley Logix5555, a ControlLogix module within the Logix5000 series, is a Programmable Automation Controller (PAC) offering versatile communication and control capabilities. It features an RS-232 port supporting protocols like ASCII, DF1, DH-485, and Modbus. It manages up to 32 tasks with 100 programs each, including event triggers, and supports networks like ControlNet, EtherNet/IP, and DeviceNet. It has 1.5 MB user memory, 208 KB I/O memory, and handles up to 128,000 I/O points (digital and analog). Requiring one slot in a 1756 chassis, it draws minimal power and dissipates little heat. Programming is flexible with relay ladder logic, structured text, function blocks, and SFC. It supports 250 controller connections, full redundancy, and RIUP. Integrated motion control is available via EtherNet/IP, SERCOS, and analog inputs. A slim power supply option reduces space. The Logix 5555 family includes models like 1756-L55 and 1756-L55Mx, compatible with various 1756 chassis and memory boards. It uses a 1756-BA1 lithium battery for backup and can be programmed via RS-232 using 1756-CP3 or 1747-CP3 cables.

Is Your Device Showing These Signs?

The Allen Bradley Logix5555 processor commonly experiences issues such as memory corruption leading to program faults, requiring firmware upgrades to resolve. Backplane communication errors cause I/O module failures, necessitating replacement of the affected modules or backplane. Power supply fluctuations induce processor resets and data loss, demanding a stable power source and potentially a new power supply unit. Program logic errors result in unexpected machine behavior, fixed through PLC program debugging and code optimization. Ethernet communication disruptions impede network connectivity, resolved by verifying network configurations, cable integrity, and switch functionality.
