Product Description
The ProSoft Technology MVI69-GEC module provides a generic ASCII Ethernet interface for Allen-Bradley CompactLogix and MicroLogix processors, enabling communication with ASCII devices over TCP/IP. This module, licensed by Allen-Bradley and utilizing proprietary backplane technology, features five servers and clients for data exchange. It supports MicroLogix and ControlLogix 1500 LRP controllers (excluding 1769-QBFC1B, 1769-L18x, and 1769-L16x) and installs in a single 1769 backplane slot. Recognized as an I/O module, it accesses processor RAM for data transfer and is suitable for applications like printer driving, barcode scanning, legacy ASCII protocol connections, weight scale interfacing, and terminal port evaluation. The shipment includes RS-232 and RJ-45 to DB-9 cables. Its Ethernet port supports 10/100 Base-T with 1500V RMS isolation and broadcast storm resiliency up to 5000 ARP frames per second. The configuration port uses RS-232 with an RJ-45 interface. LEDs indicate power, module, error, and port activity status. The module draws 800mA at 5V DC and operates between 32 and 140 degrees Fahrenheit.
Is Your Device Showing These Signs?
The Allen Bradley MVI69-GEC module commonly experiences communication failures due to incorrect configuration settings within the PLC program or improper Ethernet cable connections. Firmware corruption during upgrades necessitates reflashing the module with a compatible firmware version using the appropriate configuration software. Addressing power supply issues, such as voltage fluctuations or insufficient current, ensures stable operation. Resolve network conflicts arising from duplicate IP addresses or subnet mask mismatches to establish reliable data exchange. Module failures often require hardware replacement.
