Product Description
The Allen-Bradley PLC-5-46 is a PLC-5 processor, similar to the PLC-5-40, but with added memory protection to safeguard critical program areas and restrict access to processor operations, memory, and I/O. It offers 48K words of user memory (32K per data table), supports up to 2048 I/O points across 16 racks with varying scan times depending on communication speed, and requires 3.3A at 5V with a 17.3W power dissipation. It features EEPROM-protected memory, battery-backed RAM, and is installed in a single slot in the leftmost position of a 1771 I/O chassis, supporting up to 61 I/O chassis with 32 remote chassis per I/O link. Communication is facilitated by 4 DH+/Remote I/O ports and a configurable serial port, and the processor includes LED status indicators, timed interrupt routines, and user-programmable fault response for diagnostics.
